Distro Delves: Season 2

The Official Announcement!
Distro Delves: Season 2
Kdenlive 18.12 for editing & rendering

We’re skipping over season 1 because the pilot season was totally experimental and didn’t really resemble current Distro Delves episodes.

An interesting start

“Distro Delves” is series where I review Linux distributions and maybe a BSD distribution or two.

The primary medium (haha) for Distro Delves are YouTube videos but I occasionally write articles based on the scripts I write for the reviews.

Distro Delves is meant to be informative and entertaining; it is not an instructional or tutorial series.

Each episode aims to be entertaining enough to keep you watching but informative enough that you learn something new about the distro being reviewed.

Recording the voice-over

Every episode follows a “script”, however, when I record the voice over, I’m actually just watching the footage in real-time and commenting on what I did in the footage.

Each review has 6 distinct sections:

  • Installer & Post-Install
  • Update & Drivers
  • Application Management
  • Networking Sharing
  • Gaming Overview
  • Geekbench Benchmark Scores

I use an actual computer (not a virtual machine) for every review. The footage is captured & recorded via an Elgato HD60.

Each episode is produced in a way that puts pressure on key areas that are troublesome for most Linux distributions.

I expect Linux distros to fail in certain segments. That’s what makes the series interesting!

Many Linux distro reviews avoid problematic areas entirely which is why, in Season One, I call Distro Delves an “anti-review” series.

Distro Delves has been a very popular video series on my channel and I always really appreciate feedback!
